Overview
We’re looking for a generalist who can define a product and build it themselves. You’ll identify a business need, decide what the product should do and how it should work, then use your own engineering skills and AI tools to deliver a complete, working solution.
Your focus will be internal products that support Structure’s public platform and help the company operate. That could mean a tool for managing part of the customer experience, a marketing system, or an application that simplifies an operational workflow.
We’re building our way of working around individuals who own complete products. In this role, product management, design and implementation sit with you. You’ll work directly with the founders and the people using your products, taking responsibility from the initial problem through launch, adoption and ongoing improvement.
Examples of products you might build
Internal interfaces for managing content, configuration or workflows that support our public platform.
Marketing tools for running campaigns, connecting data sources or automating recurring work.
Operational applications that replace manual processes, coordinate tasks or give teams better visibility into their work.
Key responsibilities
Understand how teams work, identify problems worth solving, and decide where a new product or an improvement will have the most impact.
Define the product: its users, purpose, core workflows, behaviour and measures of success. Set a focused scope for the first useful version.
Design clear interfaces and practical technical solutions. Choose the architecture, data model and tools that fit the problem.
Build the complete product yourself, including the frontend, backend, database and integrations it needs. Use AI tools throughout development while taking responsibility for the code and its behaviour.
Own testing, deployment, access permissions and reliability. Debug issues, document how the product works, and maintain it after launch.
Put the product into everyday use. Gather feedback, measure its impact and improve it as the business and its needs change.
Qualifications
A track record of independently taking software products from an initial idea to use by real people.
Strong product judgment: you can turn an ambiguous request into a clear problem, make tradeoffs and decide what is worth building.
Practical engineering ability across the full application stack. You can write, read and debug code, work with databases and APIs, and deploy and maintain an application.
Experience using AI coding tools to deliver working software. You can give them clear direction, evaluate their output and fix problems when the generated solution is wrong or incomplete.
Good UX instincts and the ability to make complex workflows understandable and easy to use.
Comfort moving between unfamiliar business areas, learning quickly and making progress without a detailed specification or constant direction.
Clear communication with technical and nontechnical colleagues, including explaining decisions and responding to feedback.
Your background could be in engineering, technical product work, founding a company or building your own products. What matters is evidence that you can both decide what to build and carry out the implementation.
Experience with internal tools, workflow automation, marketing systems, fintech or trading products is useful.
What we offer
Ownership of complete products, with the autonomy to shape both their purpose and implementation.
Direct collaboration with the founders and the teams using your work, with quick feedback on what is useful.
Work across different parts of the business.
A competitive freelance day rate, agreed for each mission.
